About

Sierra Leone Animal Welfare Society (SLAWS) was formed in 1988 by Dr Abdul Gudush Jalloh who was the only practising vet in Sierra Leone.

It is a non-profit organization based in Freetown, dedicated to the humane care of animals and advocating for their welfare throughout Sierra Leone.

Dr Jalloh became a vet in response to the tragic death of his brother from rabies - a disease which is usually spread by dogs, yet can be prevented by vaccination.

TVSR Program

Trap,Vaccinate,Sterilize, and Release program was created in order to help reduce the number of strays and to prevent rabies cases.

Kindness Club

Kindness Clubs were set up by SLAWS to educate children at the schools in Freetown about animal care. The SLAWS Kindness Club is part of the 750 clubs founded by World Animal Protection in 32 African countries.
